Here, I will show you how to cook their bake version with bacon and broccoli. It is as good as the Starbucks’.

Starbucks’ Egg Bites vs. Bake Homemade Version

There are some differences between the homemade version of this Starbucks menu and the real one. Before you try to make the former, you must know these differences.

  1. The technique

Many people want to try cooking Starbucks’ egg bites at home. Unfortunately, the original version of this breakfast menu is not very easy to copy because Starbucks perform unusual technique to make them. It is the Sous Vide technique. This French technique requires you to have sous vide machine and not everyone has it.

However, you can modify this technique and have delicious breakfast similar to the bites you’ll get from the coffeehouse. Since most people have an oven, you can make this delicious treat by baking it.

  1. Variations

The real version is available in two choices, they are ones with bacon and gruyere cheese and the other is egg white bites with Monterey Jack cheese, spinach, and roasted red pepper. Meanwhile, if you make your homemade version, you can have more variations.

For example, you can have ones with broccoli, bacon, and cheese, mushroom and cheese, and tomato, cheese, and spinach. You can use all your favorite vegetables to make this menu. Therefore, you will get different taste and sensation in different bites.

  1. Level of Difficulties

Since most people tend to have an oven instead of sous vide machine, cooking the original version can be a bit challenging. Operating this machine is not easy if you never use sous vide machine before. You will likely find some difficulties and need to read the instructions carefully.

  5. Black pepper and salt
  6. Milk

Cooking Tips

Making homemade egg bites may give you some challenges. However, these tips will help you to deal with it.

  1. Prevent Them from Sticking to the Muffin Cups

It is common for the egg bite to stick to the muffin cup. However, you can avoid it by spraying the muffin cups with cooking spray. Even if you use silicone muffin cups, you still need to do it to make sure that these delicious eggs are not sticking to them.

  1. Avoid Overflowing Eggs

These muffin-like eggs will puff up when you cook them in the oven. Therefore, they will overflow the cups. To avoid it, you need to fill the cup ¾ full. Therefore, the eggs will have some room to puff up.

  1. It is Okay if They Deflate

When they are still warm, the eggs will look nice and puffy. However, once they are cool, they will likely to deflate. You don’t need to worry much about it because the eggs will remain tasty and delicious.

Questions about Egg Bites

There are some common questions regarding this Starbucks’ breakfast menu.

  1. Are they High in Calories?

The original version from Starbucks contains 310 calories per serving (the ones with bacon and gruyere) and 170 calories per serving (the ones with egg white). However, my homemade version only has 91 calories in it.

  1. How do I Store Them in the Fridge?

Having those breakfast eggs in the fridge is very handy. However, you need to store them properly so that they can be stored for 5 days. Put them in an airtight container and store it in the freezer. Before you enjoy the eggs, you can reheat them for 2 minutes in the microwave.

  1. Can I Only Use the Egg White?

The answer is yes. However, you will get better taste if you use the whole eggs. When you use only the white, you will have more challenge in seasoning it. These bites may taste like tofu instead of eggs.
